It's not all about the Presents...

Well, it's December 1st...

One of the reasons I get SO stressed out around the holidays is I think there is so much emphasis on gifts. As our kids get older I do not want them greedily demanding the "top" gift of the season.

Though there is a long list of things I would love to have and would love our kids to have, we have truly so much and really don't need anything.

There are families around the world who need so much more than us....

Like ...

Water

Milk

Eggs

Clothing

seeds to grow food

education

clothing

For these people, the last thing on their minds is a Zhu Zhu pet or a Nintendo Wii.  There are people not far from us who are in desperate need of the basic necessities of life.

Let me introduce you to a great organization called Samaritan's Purse

You probably have heard of their Operation Christmas Child program.

You can pack up a shoe box of goodies and Samaritan's Purse delivers them to children in need around the world.

What I really love about Samaritan's Purse is that not only are they loving the poor and needy, but they are delivering the true Gospel message of Jesus Christ to all who receive gifts from them.  They truly are ministering in WORD and DEED.

And here is my favorite part!
Samaritan's Purse does a great "Gift Catalog"

You can buy milk, blankets, chicks and more all for under $15.

You can feed a hungry baby for $9

Then there are bigger gifts...

Dairy Animals $70

Clothing and shoes for a child or honey bees for $30
~~~
This Christmas (and always), I want my children to remember there are so many children out there in need.  I am going to have them each pick something out in the "under $15 dollar section"
What a great gift idea too... Samaritan's Purse will also send you a gift card you can send to someone in honor of them.    Know someone who has everything?? Why not buy some milk or clothing for a child in honor of them??
So take a look at the Online Gift Catalog and join me as we help out those who are truly in need.
Happy Browsing!   This is definitely the best "Cyber Monday" (or Tuesday) shopping around!
Walk for Life!
Yep...Sweet Little Helen's Feet just minutes after birth.
We have been huge fans of the Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center for years and are SO thankful for the service they offer young women in our area. They offer pregnancy counseling, early ultrasounds, many free services and supplies for moms in need. They are an excellent resource and alternative for anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy. We are huge supporters of LIFE and love that the Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center is ministering to women holistically and helping them see the value of the precious little life within in them!
A few days after giving birth to Helen, we received a newsletter announcing the Walk for Life on April 25th. I immediately looked at David and said "I think I want to do the Walk for Life this year"
In the hospital we were reminded just how precious life is and how amazing God is to create this little being within me. After Helen's birth we prayed for her, thanked God for her life and prayed for all the millions of babies who will not have such a chance. So, so sad.
The Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center is helping to change that! One little baby at a time!
Please help me by supporting this cause and sponsoring me in my efforts to raise $ for the Walk for Life! I am starting out with a $300 goal, but I hope to up the goal to $500 if all of YOU hop on and join the team to support me!
You can click on the button on the right hand side of my blog, or follow this direct link . Any donation amount is a huge help towards my goal, and all donations are tax deductible!
Helen is 2 weeks old today...and I have 5 weeks to be able to walk 1 mile... I think I can do that.
Helen will be my walking buddy!
Here's to Life!
