While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads..

It's that time of year again.
I can't remember when Sunset Hills started hosting the magical Christmas Balls.  I can't quite remember when I stumbled across them on my drive home.  But every December this neighborhood transforms into the most magical place ever!

I refer to them as the Sugar Plum Neighborhood... Because this is what Visions of sugar plums dancing in my head looks like.

 Pure Christmas Magic!

If you are a local, you won't want to miss it.

You can visit the Christmas Ball Blog to get news on the Christmas balls, and even directions on how to make them for yourself.  The neighborhood hosts workshops throughout the year to get ready.   It truly is an amazing thing they have coordinated!

If you drive through during the day it will surely give you a few laughs to see all the creative ways they got those balls up so high!  But at night...WOW!

I recommend making some hot cocoa...

Putting a Christmas CD on in the Car...

Blasting the Heat and rolling down the windows...

And enjoy the Magic!

Note--It is not a very walkable area... not all the streets have sidewalks.  So, as much fun as it would be to bring a wagon and walk under the lights, the traffic is too busy and people are looking up so not always paying the best attention to the road.

Also, bring canned food to donate as they are collecting for Urban Ministries!

Make a tradition of it...
I know for me, I swing through whenever I am driving by...and sometimes even when it isn't on the way!

  1. That is amazing! What a fun tradition. You'll have to cart the kids to Charleston some time for the Festival of Lights here as well! We still have that Mission House at church if you're ever interested in bringing a group (or just your little herd).
