In other news….
I thought I would toss out a few book recommendations to you.

Motherhood as a Mission Field
The first is not a book, but a blog post over at Desiring God by Rachel Jankovic (author of Loving the Little Years, a must read of anyone in the toddler/preschool trenches).  This blog post is a MUST read. Reminding mothers that we may not be in the slums of India, or serving down at the homeless shelter, but our work mothering little ones IS the Mission Field.  Thank you Rachel!

Feminine Threads: Women in the Tapestry of Christian History

Feminine Threads: Women in the Tapestry of Christian History

I can’t wait to read this and be reminded of all the great women in Christian history!

Give Them Grace: Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus

Give Them Grace: Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus
This book is all the chatter among the moms in our church.  One has said it is “the best parenting book I’ve ever read”  That says a lot to me.  Sign me up.  I have yet to  convince these women that a summer book club is in order… stay tuned.  I am all about a summer book club.  But who would watch all the little kiddos for us while we talk about giving them grace??

The 7 Hardest Things God Asks a Woman to Do

The 7 Hardest Things God Asks a Woman to Do

David brought this home from a conference for me.  It has been a great read.  If you want to be challenged in your character, stretched in your love and good deeds, and encouraged in the faith, this is a great book.  And it’s not particularly wife/mom focused, so a great read for singles as well.

Grandpa's Box: Retelling the Biblical Story of Redemption Grandpa's Box: Retelling the Biblical Story of Redemption

This is going to be our summer read with the kids!  It is a chapter book, yet short chapters (4-5 pages)  It is fiction, and goes through the story of “Grandpa’s Box” and weaves in the Biblical Story of redemption.  The books says ages 9-12, but it reads like Magic Tree House and has short chapters so my kids will be really into it.  There are 42 chapters.   Let me tell you I have been SO impressed by Starr Meade---she has some great resources out there.

So there you have it!  Happy reading friends!
