over at The Adventure of Motherhood
The Colors of Us
by Karen Katz
This is a great book that my children LOVE! It follows the story of a little girl, Lena, and her mother walking through their neighborhood visiting all their neighborhood friends.
The mom points out how everyone has a different color.
And Lena comes home and colors them all…
Chocolate, peachy, coffee, toffee, cinnamon butterscotch!
I like this book especially at the preschool age when children are starting to realize that not everyone looks like them.

This is one of my favorites!!
ReplyDeleteI like the one about crayons too that only want to work with their color but decide to work together instead. I think it's called the crayon box. Anyway, great review!
ReplyDeleteI love the innocence of little kids - I'll have to look for this book! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI will have to keep this book in mind as my boys get older. Some things are just easier to teach through books, kids seem to absorb it differently.
ReplyDeletethis book sounds so sweet. since hunter has a cousin from china and ethiopia, this would be great to have! thanks for passing it on... i love learning about good books.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to teach and celebrate diversity!
ReplyDeleteWould you email me more about your relationship or contact at Shepherd Press. I would like to learn more about giving away their books like you suggested. Thanks!
